My remote work story
Over the past few years, remote work has become acceptable across many organizations, which was not a norm before. But unlike many others, remote work started in a bit different way for me. I was forced to work from home; yes, you read it right; let me share the story.
In 2019, I applied to speak at a conference, but rather than supporting me, my employer rejected my request. In the end, I figured out it was out of jealousy. But I resigned, and the people involved in the decision not to let me speak got angrier. when I asked my VP of Tech why my request was denied to speak about an Open Source Tech, like many others, he had no answer.
I was asked to leave the premises, but they could not as I had already resigned, so they asked me to serve my notice period from home, but they made sure I got no support from them during this period; they even rejected my request to provide any request for my new job.
I cried many times during this period; I could see my entire career destroyed by many jealous people. I had worked hard over the years to give my family a good life.
But you know, after darkness, there is a light. I never thought this would be my last time working from an office. It has been 5 years since I was asked to leave that toxic workplace, and I never looked back.

Cherish what we have
When I was in college, my family was struggling financially, but my parents used to make everything seem normal, we were still having food on our table at the end of the day.
But sometimes my mom used to give the food to her friend, and I used to get angry with her because we had to eat still, and my mom used to tell us, it's ok; we had more food. I knew we didn’t; we had just enough for ourselves.
Years later, I learned my mom’s friend used to skip meals. They were struggling more than us, and the time I realized what my mom meant when she used to say, “We had more food. “Yes, we had more than them; you always have more than some other person who needs it more.
It's been 4 years, and my financial situation become better; the end of 2020 came with some great news for my family. I started earning more than what I used to make in 2 to 3 years. I always feel happy when I realize I am making more than my family and I need.
In a world where everyone wants to earn more, realizing what you have is enough is a blessing.
I always remember when I had nothing and how it felt to have no money. You always have enough than someone else who needs it more than you.
GitHub Star Journey
Nov 2020 came with amazing news. I became India’s first GitHub Star, and I would not lie; I cried.
It has been 4 years, and hands down, it is one of the best Developer Programs. The program opened many opportunities, and I moved to Germany in 2022.
If you want to know more about the program, DM me, and I will be happy to help you.
